It is not going to destroy the bridge to adjust the screws under tension. Furthermore, loosening the strings does not remove the tension from the bridge posts. The way to avoid damaging a PRS trem is to never turn the 6 screws at the front of the trem. They are set at the factory and shouldnt ever need adjustment. It is not nessesary to turn those screws when blocking the trem.
