You don't need to optimize talismans, and even better, it's good for tank, since life steal and also since tanks don't have attack speed OR Crit chance, though anyone can use a dagger. It's definitely a strong melee option before shadow fury assuming you have the patience to farm the kills for it. Speaking of kills, you need 10k kills to "max" the weapon damage, which is a lot for some players.
